Member-led industry association

About the South African Adventure Industry Association.

SA AIA represents the people and organisations working across adventure tourism, ABL, LOTC, outdoor education and related technical disciplines.

Our mission

Professional standards for a diverse industry.

We bring together people and organisations across Southern Africa's adventure industry to strengthen professional practice, skills, safety and responsible access to the outdoors.

The South African Adventure Industry Association (SA AIA) is a member-led, non-government industry association. It is not a government department or statutory regulator: it represents and supports the industry while distinguishing its own standards and guidance from legal and government requirements.

Our shared foundations are safety, technical competence, responsible facilitation, ethical practice, regulatory alignment and respect for natural, human and cultural resources.

What we work toward

  • Globally benchmarked, locally relevant standards
  • Recognised professions and career pathways
  • Transformation, skills transfer and opportunity
  • Responsible and regenerative outdoor practice
  • Constructive engagement with government and partners
